Welcome!

You may wonder at the title of my blog. And originally it was a title that was very insignificant (see first post). I have often had the desire to change my blog's name or even to start a new one as the address is also soo do or pseudo. But this last year at bible school I had an assignment on generosity based on two chapters from the Bible (Leviticus 25 and Deuteronomy 15) that changed my perspective a bit. In Deuteronomy God tells the Israelites "...you shall not harden your hearts, nor close your hand from your brother, but you shall freely open your hand to him and generously lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he lacks." (Deut. 15:7-8).
Soo do means open hand in Korean, or at least that is what I have been told in my karate classes, and after remembering this and working through my generosity assignment, I wondered to myself: Am I a soo do (open hand) christian or a psuedo christian? This question continues to challenge me. I often keep my time, money, and encouragements to myself and don't give generously. But God calls us to give all we have, for our security lies not in our weatlh, or health, or time, or place, but ultimately in Him.
This blog is for me to share my thoughts and my days, things I love and places I go, my struggles and His victories, and ultimately His work in and through me will hopefully make me a soo do christian.

Inspiring, ain't it?

The inspiration to write something doesn’t come in a package, nor does it come from endless hours spent in front of your computer screen thinking of how to start a sentence. Everyone reading this has spoken before, why should writing be any more difficult than talking to a friend, or parent, or a pet. Why do we have to make writing so difficult for students?
Before I took AP English I didn’t even know how to write an essay. I couldn’t even write a sentence. Oh, I could write what my third grade teacher would call a sentence. “Sally is having fun. Henry is not having fun. Sally wants Henry to feel better.” And blah, blah, blah. As Val kilmer said in Real Genius "Who talks like that?" i really wish teachers would do their jobs and teach, really teach kids how to write an essay. not all that crap about one and only one paragraph per point, or no sentances that have more than three "and's". why must they torment us so?
