Welcome!

You may wonder at the title of my blog. And originally it was a title that was very insignificant (see first post). I have often had the desire to change my blog's name or even to start a new one as the address is also soo do or pseudo. But this last year at bible school I had an assignment on generosity based on two chapters from the Bible (Leviticus 25 and Deuteronomy 15) that changed my perspective a bit. In Deuteronomy God tells the Israelites "...you shall not harden your hearts, nor close your hand from your brother, but you shall freely open your hand to him and generously lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he lacks." (Deut. 15:7-8).
Soo do means open hand in Korean, or at least that is what I have been told in my karate classes, and after remembering this and working through my generosity assignment, I wondered to myself: Am I a soo do (open hand) christian or a psuedo christian? This question continues to challenge me. I often keep my time, money, and encouragements to myself and don't give generously. But God calls us to give all we have, for our security lies not in our weatlh, or health, or time, or place, but ultimately in Him.
This blog is for me to share my thoughts and my days, things I love and places I go, my struggles and His victories, and ultimately His work in and through me will hopefully make me a soo do christian.

hello!

hello Everyone. here i am in beautiful British Columbia! Unfortunately i don't have my camera cord with me so you will have to wait for pictures. But i am thoroughly enjoying myself here and i am learning so much. Last week i went on my "venture"( the bungy jumping was all full so i went caving instead). it was really quite amazing. we got to experience 100% darkness and it is strange because your eyes will try to adjust but they will never be able to. and we did a lot of climbing, we climbed through crevices and holes and up a trickling waterfall and slide sideways through a crack in the rock that was less than a foot and a half wide. way cool! any way as soon as i get my camera hook up i'll post all my pics.I love all of you and i am praying for you.

Ahhhh!

I love the fact that no matter how bad i feel there is always something to cheer me up. today started out as a lazy day and I really hate that because before you know it half of your day is gone and you've done nothing. So when I find myself in that position I tell myself to get off my but and get active so I started fresh with a shower and cleaned my room and now I feel wonderfully organized. Yay!

Wedding, car, school, and ice cream

Wow! I haven't written for a while. CC (My sis) is getting married in 1...2...3...4 days and school starts in two days and i get a car in 5 days this is a very busy week. Still like my job, but there's always that one coworker that drives you up the wall.. on to better things. Like my family is coming up this week and we going to have a blast! And now it is my intention to go into the kitchen and make myself a big, beautiful ice cream cone

JOB!

So, I got a job. It's lots of fun and I love my coworkers, but my feet are killing me! Still haven't gotten around to starting crime and punishment. No, God! Don't make me do it. My dad said it was really interesting and I bet it is, but I still don't want to read it when I could be watching movies or playing my Super Nintendo

summer

So, school is out. I really ought to get a job, but I don't really want to. There is only one thing I have to do this summer. I get to read Crime and Punishment for my AP lit. class next year. YAY! I am so excited... Oh, well. I guess there are worse things. Like getting my intestines pulled out or have a beast eat me alive.

Pseudo or soo do?

I was sitting, or rather standing, in my karate class the other day when our instructor ask the class what "soo do" meant (pronounced like pseudo). He pointed at one of the students in my class, a college student, and she questioningly answered "fake?" and our instructor laughed and shook his head. He ask another student who didn't know either. Then another who gave a wrong answer. Finally, someone answered correctly; "soo do" is Korean for open hand.
