Amazing!
This was such an incredible book. As I walked through my library in late may, I looked at the books and thought "I want to read a book that is really good, something that is gripping and intersting and different" then i remembered that The Kite Runner had on my list to read, i guess it was on other's lists too because all the copies were checked out, but there were several copies of his second book, A Thousand Splaendid Suns, so i got it.
This book made me think about the situation in Afganistan more than anything else, i am truly conflicted about the war on Terror because 1) being a Christian i'm not sure i should support war, 2) My uncle is in the National Guard and i want to support Him because he is so dear to my whole family, and 3) Do we really know what goes on over there or do we just have an opinion based on hearsay. This book taught me so much about Afganistan and the people there and what their lives are probably like. It also gave me great compassion for them.
This is a must read!

WHAT!!!!!
As I sat in my room in late 2006 and finished Liz Curtis Higgs' book Grace in Thine Eyes I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next one of her books. But as I turned to the last page it read something like Here Burns My Candle coming spring 2008. AHHHHHhhhhhhh! Talk about torment. BUT now I have waited a year and a half only to go to her website and find out that due to her being busy with another book this one won't be here for a while. Look for it in March 200...9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
